Who are the main characters? How are they introduced and represented in the title sequence? How do they develop over the course of the film / what experiences or conflicts do we see them encounter?

·      Jason Biggs – Introduced as a young farther who is sexually frustrated. As the movie progresses we see that he is very sensible unlike his friends.
·      Alyson Hannigan – introduced as a young mother who is sexually frustrated. The couple bring the romantic element into the movie and at the same time, the comedy. This is done by their sexual frustration at each other’s and as the movie progress, how it builds.
·      Chris Klein – Responsible young adult looking for love. His character brings romance into the movie as that is all he is looking for.

·      Seann William Scott – Adult still hung over his teenage days. Irresponsible and immature, main asset that brings the comedy into the movie.

What social groups are we introduced to in the films opening sequence? Is stereotyping used to introduce these groups and do the change over time?

We are introduced to a couple. The stereotype used to introduce this is the hegemonic view that media constantly reinforces; once you are married, you will be sexually unsatisfied.

How do the teen/youth characters interact with adults? Is it how we would expect them to be in a teen film?

The teen character treat the adults as if they’re clueless and old. It is what you would expect in a teen film as teen films often emphasise on stereotypes, and the stereotype being portrayed here is the idea of teens being undisciplined and rude towards adults.
