Blogging Task 20 - Xmas hw

The Film which I'll be using is  :Kiddulthood

Sub genre's: Youth Drama

List the title credits and the order they appear in:

  • Hanway Films
  • Stealth Films
  • Cipher Films
  • Films Production
  • Kidulthood (name of the movie)

What 'type' category of title sequence does the film have

It's a plain type of title sequence, its presented on a plain black screen. Some of the words for example "Stealth Films" were presented in a creative way which made it more effective. Also background music was played whilst the title sequence was being presented.

Who is the producer? Mainstream or Independent production?

There are many producers for example: associate producer, line producer, executive producer, producer, co-producer and lastly assistance producer.
The producers of this film are:
  • Menhaj Huda
  • George Isaac
  • Damian Jones
What storyline or plots are introduced in the films opening? how are these developed in rest of film?

The plot which was introduced in the films opening was a bunch of student and they also focused on a a man which wasnt ment to be in the scenary as he didnt have uniform. They focused on the main characters in the film and introduced them in a different way - them having conversations with one and other. The film opening plot created suspense as a lot of things took place and went on. Also the music which was played created a suspicious atmosphere.
Who are the main characters? How are they introduced and represented in the title sequence? How do they develop over the course of the film / what experiences  or conflicts do we see them encounter?

The main characters are not introduced through writing , but are introduced through dialogue of other characters. Over the course of the film it develops through the use of us as the audience seeing them individual. For example trevor we had a tour around his house , they recorded him individually.

What social groups are we introduced to in the films opening sequence? Is stereotyping used to introduce these groups and do the change over time?

Social groups which have been introduced for example group of friends. There would be stereotypes of the three main characters which are boys. Could be stereotyped that they are all in a gang or violent boys.

How do the teen/youth characters interact with adults? Is it how we would expect them to be in a teen film?

The youth characters interact with adults in different ways, whether its being sexual or ignoring them.

Camera - What are the main camera shot types used in the film?

There are lots of Mid shots, which allow us to focus on the characters faces and also the attire of all the characters. Also Cut In's were used to focus on people hands etc. For example a Cut In was focused on Trevors hand when he had a gun.

Editing - What kind of editing techniques does the film use? Does it have slow or fast pace? Are there any special effects? Who has most of the screen time?

Cuts were used. To change scenes, from one character to another or one location to another location.

Sound - what kind of soundtrack does the film have ? how does it link to the themes of the story lines? What does it tell us about the character?

Alot of non diagetic sounds were used. Non diagetic are sounds which orginate from outside the story world e.g. voice over or sound tracks.

Mis-en-scene - What are the key locations or settings do we see in the film?

They used alley ways in order to create a dark theme or spooky atmosphere.

Mis-en-scene - What are the key props in the film? What do they tell us about the characters and the film?

The attire on some of the characters for example the girls portray the characters to look slightly lower classed and poor. Also I know that most of the characters are teenagers because they were wearing uniform.
